Fall in love with this busy coastal city by night

Cardiff is often touted as one of the UK’s best cities for nightlife, with options from cosy cosmopolitan cocktail lounges to bustling sports bars and even a Bavarian Beer Hall. Whichever night out you prefer, a good night’s sleep awaits at our ideally located Cardiff hotels, where you can make the most of free high-speed Wifi and tasty breakfast buffet

On a date… exotic or classic
Whatever your mood, Cardiff has the right night out for you. Feeling festive? Try a Latino night with a ‘happier happy hour’ from 10pm until late, with excellent cocktails at Las Iguanas in Mill Lane. For a really cheesy night out, try Madame Fromage in Castle Arcade, a specialist stocking 150 different varieties sourced from artisan and farmhouse producers, not to mention delicatessen and patisseries. Prefer something classic? Le Bistrot Pierre on Caroline Street, close to St David’s shopping centre, is ideal for a pre-theatre dinner or a gourmet tasting menu during their regular Soireé Gastronomique, where you can sample a six-course set menu without breaking the bank.
With friends… cosy & crafty
If you like all things eclectic and vintage, try The Bunkhouse with its Victorian beds, quilts and shabby-chic furniture. Part of a hostel, it’s a funky space with a cosy atmosphere, ideal for a coffee or an evening drink. Meanwhile, craft beer aficionados should try BrewDog, just over the road from the national stadium, where 30 taps await in a hipster décor, ideal for a night out with friends or a date.
For sports… pool tables & oompah bands
Cardiff has become synonymous with sports, and thus, sports bars. With plenty of options to catch live coverage, from rugby Premiership games to the FA Cup, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to where to watch while soaking up the atmosphere. For an intimate setting, the Soda Bar is cosy and low key, while the large-scale Shooters Sports Bar in the Bierkeller Entertainment Complex (next to the stadium) comes with pool tables, American menus and massive screens. For a taste of Oktoberfest all year around, stick to the Bierkeller with its oompah bands, dirndls galore and beer steins.
For live music … raw & unplugged
As well as major concerts, Cardiff plays host to lots of up-and-coming bands and independent artists. Smaller venues for live music, such as The Live Lounge, open 7 days a week with DJs playing until 4am, are one of this city’s specialities. For the more alternatively minded, try Dempsey’s in Castle Street, home to the Sŵn Festival. Another favourite is Porter’s, with its weekly Tuesday open-mic sessions featuring vintage pop and acoustic covers. While Undertone is the place for grunge lovers.
