From Michelin stars to leisurely brunch spots

There’s no shortage of delicious foodie experiences in Birmingham. Some locals even boast that the city's food scene has grown to rival that of London. With five Michelin-starred restaurants, Birmingham has plenty to be proud of. But visitors come for far more than the fine dining. Birmingham is a premier Indian food destination and the city also has ample offerings when it comes to hearty English breakfasts, finger-licking street foods, and budget-friendly bites.

Breakfast and brunch
Start your day off with a leisurely breakfast selection at one of our hotels near Birmingham or seek out one of Birmingham's lively breakfast and brunch spots. At York's Bakery Cafe, pair a cup of outstanding speciality coffee with an adventurous breakfast of Korean Kongjang spiced beans or go back to basics with a simple bacon sandwich. For a leisurely weekend brunch accompanied by bottomless Bellinis, seek out Gas Street Social. Fill up on fluffy buttermilk pancakes or try something a little different like the Wagyu beef burger. At Ju Ju's, share a full English breakfast platter for two and wash it all down with a pair of spicy Bloody Marys.
Stellar street treats
With some of the country's most inspiring mobile food vendors, Birmingham's street-food scene shouldn't be missed. Venture to King's Heath on Saturdays for the Brum Yum Yum street food festival, or sample the selection at Digbeth Dining Club on Friday evenings. While in Birmingham, meat lovers should follow their noses to White Heat for a selection of gourmet BBQ meats with a helping of English refinement. Penang Laksa Co brings the exotic flavours of Malaysian street food to the city, while Churros Susanna specializes in crispy Mexican sweet treats. Whatever tickles your fancy, you’ll find it on the menu in Birmigham.
Exotic bites on a budget
For those who prefer indoor eating, you’ll find Birmingham restaurants serving high-quality plates that don’t squeeze the wallet. Try a mutton-stuffed Frankie dosa at Raja Monkey, a popular and vibrant Indian street cafe. Be transported to South America at Bodega Cantina where the dishes include Brazilian stews and Peruvian lomo saltado. For meat-free meals try Bodega's vegan menu or dine at perennially popular The Warehouse Cafe. Must-try items include the halloumi fish and chips or one of the house-made burgers.
For an romantic evening
Looking for something special? Why not head to Carters of Moseley where the welcoming atmosphere and inventive use of heritage ingredients is a winning combination. Having topped the 2015 Good Food Guide, they also recently secured a Michelin star, making Carter's a must-visit destination for Birmingham-bound foodies in search of something special. Adam's quintessentially British menu is another popular Michelin-starred choice. Try the sea bream with sea vegetables or the Jerusalem artichoke with chorizo and egg yolk. For something more laid back, don’t miss out on the city's creative Indian cuisine scene. The atmosphere of Old World decadence of colonial India at Itihaas makes an excellent backdrop to extravagant menu items including five-spiced lobster and slow-cooked marinated lamb shank. We hope you come hungry!
