Whether you crave high-end designers or one-off vintage décor, the city has it

Birmingham has become a real haven for those in search of serious retail therapy, offering everything from department stores to independent quirky boutiques. Indulge in your taste for luxury, while remaining on budget, by staying at one of our Birmingham hotels.

The Bullring
The one-time market, dating back to the Middle Ages, is now a slick mall. Rebuilt in 2003, the Bullring is now attracting shoppers from all over the world. One of Europe's largest city-centre shopping malls, it counts over 160 shops, from Armani Exchange to Mango and Timberland.
Superb Selfridges
A visual landmark in itself, Selfridges is a must for designer fans. Big brands such as Christian Louboutin, Maje and Stella McCartney add extra kudos, and the shop is open until 9 or 10pm most days. Sunday mornings even have an extra ‘browsing time’ from 11 to 11.30am before the tills open. You’ll also find a chic Food Hall on site to pick up your Godiva chocolates or your Dom Perignon champagne. And you can refuel on site thanks to Krispy Kreme, Starbucks, the Moet Champagne Bar or Ekachai Noodle Bar.
Grand Central
Grand Central is big news in Birmingham. The brand new revamped mall is located in the heart of the city, directly above Birmingham New Street Station and easily accessible by metro, train or bus. Home to names like John Lewis, Cath Kidston, Jo Malone and Hobbs, it’s a premium shopping destination which also offers plenty of great food outlets, ranging from Giraffe to Yo Sushi and Muffin Break.
Independent boutiques
Birmingham isn’t all about big brand names though. Try the Birmingham Rag Market on Edgbaston Street for eclectic stalls selling everything from make-up to cosmetics and fabrics. Or for a little history and plenty of authenticity, head to the Great Western Arcade on Colmore Row. This is the place to pick up anything from chocolates to whisky, handmade gifts and vintage clothes, all under a beautiful glass roof. Also on Colmore Row, don’t miss Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe for old-fashioned boiled sweets, toffees and much more...
Designer outlets
And finally, if you’re seeking a real bargain, don’t forget to visit Astle Park where you’ll find outlet stores for M&S, Gap and Nike among others. If you’re driving, an hour out of Birmingham Bicester Village awaits. Shopping heaven, it’s got plenty of luxury outlets from Dior to Fendi and Balenciaga…
