Portugal Cheap Holidays – Travel Tips

Although one of the most inexpensive countries in Europe, Portugal will leave you speechless with its beauty. Follow our tips and enjoy your cheap holidays to Portugal!

Explore Portugal on a budget and find amazing sights and attractions for free. Eat delicious local food on only a few euros and find amazing cheap hotels to rest during your trip. Either in a trip to the amazing beaches in the Algarve, in a road trip through major cities in central Portugal or during a visit to Porto or Braga, you’ll always find inexpensive ways to get the most of each location.
Lisbon – Portugal’s Ancient Capital
Although the most expensive city in Portugal, Lisbon is fairly cheap when compared to other major European capitals. One of the best ways to explore the city is by taking long walks across some of the major avenues and neighborhoods. Start at Terreiro do Paço, the grand square by the river, and continue your journey across Rua Augusta, Chiado, Restauradores and the great Avenida da Liberdade. On Sundays you’ll find that most of the museums are free. Food is also pretty cheap if you avoid the most crowded areas in downtown Lisbon.
Porto and the North of Portugal
Porto is Portugal’s second largest city and one of the most charming towns in Europe. Stroll along the Douro River, climb atop the Clérigos Tower and enjoy amazing views over the city. For lunch or dinner, try the famous Francesinha (which won’t cost more than 10 euros) or the traditional Porto’s Stripe Stew. If you have time to explore the North, make sure to visit Braga and Guimarães.
Alentejo and Algarve
Enjoy the amazing beaches in Alentejo and Algarve – the two charming southern regions in Portugal – and try incredible dishes like “Migas à Alentejana”, “Açorda à Alentejana”, “Caldeirada à Algarvia”, among others.
