Sharjah is the third largest emirate in the United Arab Emirates and one of the most popular tourist residential areas of the region. Voted to be the Cultural and Islamic Capital of the Arab World on numerous occasions, Sharjah has plenty to offer whether you are travelling with family or by yourself. We’ve lined up our take on the 5 best places to visit in Sharjah:

Qanat al Qasba
A premium cultural and entertainment destination near the waterfront. The Qasba is a perfect spot for families, with restaurants and activities lining the canal. Attractions include the ‘Eye of the Emirates’ the highest observatory wheel in the region, abra rides and a variety of restaurants and cafes.
Arabian Wildlife Centre
The wildlife centre is home to the world’s largest collection of Arabian wildlife and is completely indoors. Open to the public till 5pm every day expect Tuesday, the wildlife centre is a must-see attraction for all, especially families with small children. Over 100 species of animals can be seen, along with a wide variety of Arabian flora and fauna.
Art Museum
The largest in the region, the Art Museum in Sharjah stands at an area of 111,000 m2. Spread across three floors, the museum has a wide collection of paintings, lithographs and plenty of educational activities and workshops.
Sharjah Science Museum
The first fully interactive science and technology centre in the United Arab Emirates, the science museum is the perfect edutainment venue for all ages. The museum holds regular workshops and seminars, and even has a planetarium.
Go to the park
Most people expect Sharjah to be full of sand and barren land, however there are plenty of parks and gardens around the city. Parks in Sharjah have been designed with families and children in mind, with plenty of activities and games. There are special days for just families and are very safe. Some popular parks in the emirate include Al Jazeera Park, Al Majaz Park and Green Belt Park.
