Muscat Nightlife

For a relatively small port city, Muscat is full of appealing venues and has a wide range of nightlife options that tourists can simply pass their time enjoying. The vibrant nightlife of the city has improved year on year – whether you are looking for a night of classy cocktails and razzmatazz with friends or places to enjoy some music scenes and live entertainment shows, Muscat has something for everyone. Most of the bars and nightclubs are located in hotels, but there are some iconic licensed establishments alongside more recent additions to Muscat’s nightlife scene. Even though there are many nightclubs that cover all live music scenes, the recommended venues are: Nirvana, Zouk and Rock Bottom that are considered to be some of the coolest and notorious night spots in Muscat.

There is a bevy of night-time entertainment options to choose from, including dinner shows, live music, and interactive cultural entertainment shows that take place in the city all throughout the year. Whether it is an opera or a concert, Muscat has them all covered. It has one of the most innovative opera houses in the world – to satisfy all operaphiles and theatre lovers. The city also hosts powerhouse concerts featuring international stars, international musicals, night-time art exhibitions and gallery showings. The Royal Opera House (ROH) is a cultural landmark in the heart of the city and is the first of its kind in the Arabian Peninsula. ROH was officially inaugurated in the year 2011 by Sultan Qaboos bin Said Al Said, who himself is an avid music enthusiast. ROH holds an array of symphony concerts, chamber music, plays, recitals, operas, dance musicals and ballets throughout the year.
For those who love cinema, a number of multiplex venues, such as Vox Cinemas, Al-Shatti Multiplex, Ruwi and Star, City Cinemas have screenings of the newest International and Arabic releases.
