Savour some specialities of the terroir
Take your time along the flower decked quays of Le Thiou, but make sure you don’t miss the centre of the old town. Try Rue Sainte-Claire and Rue du Pâquier for example. We recommend them for their historic architecture, but we also love their café terraces! On the way, you’ll see plenty of sites including Saint-Pierre d’Annecy cathedral. In the Jardins de l’Europe, you’ll see a lovely panorama of the lake surrounded by Alpine summits.
Take the local ‘boat bus’ to visit the villages on the lake’s shores. You’ll be won over by Annecy-le-Vieux’s tranquil charms, while Veyrier-du-Lac will take you back in time and Duingt never fails to impress with its solidly roofed houses.
Let your taste buds be your guide… Here, cakes are sweet but their prices are even sweeter! That’s just one good reason to try a local Savoie biscuit at breakfast. During the day, the old town’s artisan bakeries are the place to go for a bite to eat. You won’t be able to resist a sandwich with the scent of warm bread in the air, and you might like to add some local cold cuts to yours. Try the smoked ham for instance, or some sausages with nuts. Or why not taste some of the region’s cheeses such as brézain or reblochon.
