Go window-shopping on the Bahnhofstrasse
This former industrial area attracts a cosmopolitan and creative population. You will find a myriad of design and fashion shops along the "Viadukt" as well as galleries and organic restaurants, each more trendy than the next. Venture to the Prime Tower, a fascinating glass tower reflecting the city and the sky. At the top you can seat for a coffee while enjoying a scenic view over Zürich.
Zürich’s Old Town
The Angel Protector of Niki de Saint Phalle is worth seeing in the lobby of the central station. From there, walk up Bahnhofstrasse, an avenue lined with luxury shops that leads to Lake Zürich. A stop off at the Sprüngli confectionery is a must, to taste the iconic macaroons known as "Luxemburgerli".
Wander the Schipfe district, site of former Gallo-Roman village of Tiricum. Then enjoy some quiet in the Lindenhof park, ideal for a picnic with superb views over the city and, in the distance, the lake and mountains. In the Old Town, fountains, bridges and churches compete for most charming and the banks of the Limmat are yet another invitation to a leisurely stroll. Do not forget to stop at the Fraumünster church. Notwithstanding its modest appearance, it has magnificent stained glass windows by Marc Chagall. The Grossmünster cathedral, with its windows of semi-precious stone, was the starting point of the Protestant Reformation in German Switzerland. Finally, push the bronze doors by Otto Münch to access the Museum of the Reformation, one of the 50 museums in the city.
