Discovering Bern, beautiful and tranquil medieval city

Walk through the centuries
Bern, home to the Swiss Federal Government headquarters and Unesco’s World Heritage site, is probably one of the most surprising and attractive cities in Switzerland and it can be well explored on a low budget.
Enjoy some calm and relaxation in Bern
Founded more than 800 years ago, Bern displays a unique architectural heritage with its arcades running for 3.7 miles and its sandstone facades. With the "Bern Ticket", you will enjoy free public transport in the city, including airport-hotel shuttle. The Federal Palace on the Bundesplatz is one of the highlights of the city tour. From Monday to Saturday when Parliament is not in session, free guided tours are available. When parliament is sitting, it is also possible to follow the debates of the federal chambers from the public galleries. During the summer, enjoy the refreshing cool water provided by the water-jets hidden in the pavement of the Bundesplatz outside the Palace. On rainy days, follow the arcades path to Albert Einstein’s house, the place where he developed his theory of relativity -at the age of 26! Another famous attraction not to be missed: the Clock Tower, which houses the oldest clock of all Switzerland.
With the "Bern Ticket", enjoy a cable car ride to the top of Gurten, which offers unrivalled views of the city and the Alps. If the weather allows it, treat yourself to a relaxing time in one of the free open-air pools of the city. Thanks to the free Wifi in your hotel, you’ll be able to check easily for locations and information on opening times. The Marzili pool at the foot of the Federal Palace, is much appreciated by locals and tourists alike. Besides the children's wading pool, it offers a direct access to the River Aare.
