Arty walks in the heart of Bordeaux
In the city of Bordeaux, slick design forms a bridge between past and present. Get back to basics and learn about the city's history at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs et du Design museum, where delicate faïence and ceramics are on display, as well as precious wooden furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries. Close by, the ancient buildings around the port have become canvases for a modern form of expression: the contemporary art museum and the regional contemporary art collection showcase installations designed to change the way you see the world around you. In town, design pieces unexpectedly emerge around every corner in the city's historic districts. At one of the ends of the old stone bridge, a blue lion juts out like a celestial guardian. This piece by artist Xavier Veilhan rears up over the Place Stalingrad where it was first set up in 2005.
