Casinos in Manchester

Leave nothing to chance with our guide to Manchester’s best casinos
When it comes to UK casinos, there’s no doubting that London has the widest variety, but Manchester and its surrounding areas offer a surprisingly wide range of options for both the seasoned and casual gambler. So, whether you want to test your luck with a spin on the roulette tables, wrestle the one-armed bandits or pull up a chair at the blackjack and poker tables, you’ll find it all and much more in the city of Manchester.
Grosvenor Casinos
The Grosvenor chain owns three of the casinos in central Manchester in Soames, Bury New Road and Didsbury. The Grosvenor Soames in Chinatown is the only one of the trio without a poker table, but there are plenty of alternatives in the city for card fans. Instead, the Soames casino offers slots, roulette and blackjack. The Didsbury casino is a little further afield than the other Manchester casinos, but it does offer all the aforementioned games, along with a 100-seater poker room, slot machines with jackpots of up to £10,000 and baccarat. The Bury New Road Grosvenor boasts the biggest poker room in the entire north-west of England, as well as a private room that can be hired for special occasions.

Manchester 235 Casino
The Manchester 235 brings a little bit of Vegas to Manchester. It’s owned by the legendary Vegas outfit Caesars and, as you’d expect, retains the look and feel of one of Sin City’s famous casinos. It’s located in the city centre, not far from the Opera House, in a stylish development that also boasts two excellent bars, one of which is the invite-only VIP lounge. The casino is also home to two excellent restaurants: the award-winning James Martin Manchester restaurant, which serves the best British food from the ex-Saturday Kitchen host, and the Ocean Treasure restaurant, which specialises in Cantonese cuisine. The games floor offers multiple poker options (No Limit Texas Hold ’Em, Pot Limit Omaha and Dealer’s Choice), slots, roulette tables and machines, blackjack and baccarat.

Manchester Genting Club
The Manchester outpost of the world-renowned Malaysian casino chain is located on Portland Street, a short walk from the ibis Manchester Centre. It’s a mid-sized casino, somewhat smaller and less all-singing and dancing than the glitzy Manchester 235 Casino, yet bigger than the nearest Grosvenor casino in Soames. Its main claim to fame is the biggest baccarat game in England’s north-west, although this claim comes courtesy of the casino itself. Apart from baccarat, there’s a good array of the usual suspects: poker (three card and multiplayer), roulette, blackjack and slots. There’s also a private room for high stakes games, which overlooks the main floor and has its own discreet entrance for that true high-roller feel. If you’re after some sustenance, you can eat in the Fahrenheit Bar or avail of the Graze and Play menu at your gaming table.
