On Boulevard Montmartre, a whole series of covered arcades (such as the Passage des Panoramas, the Galerie Feydeau and Passage Jouffroy) are full of boutiques and little restaurants and have a very 19th-century ambiance. At the other end of Boulevard des Capucines, La Madeleine church built by Louis XV is still one of Paris’ most important centres for sacred music thanks to its grand organ.

Behind the Opéra on Boulevard Haussmann, you’ll reach Paris’ shopping paradise with its many major stores. In their gorgeous buildings topped with Art Deco and Belle Epoque domes, Le Printemps and Les Galeries Lafayette are a showcase for Parisian chic with their selections of fashion, home décor and food products. While you’re staying in the Opéra district, make sure you take advantage of the many locations for lively nights out, including the Edouard VII, Variétés, Mogador and Palace theatres. But don’t miss other iconic locations in Paris’ night-life like the Folies Bergère, Grand Rex or Olympia, a legendary concert hall which has been welcoming the biggest names in music since 1893.
