A cheap hotel near the Louvre: a voyage among royal residences

A district at the heart of history and the arts
The Seine and the essential historical buildings which line it run through the heart of Paris, evoking the French capital’s rich history. The city’s most beautiful districts and their exceptional architectural and cultural heritage are accessible from your cheap hotel near the Louvre.
A trip to the Louvre
The Jardin des Tuileries and its pathways designed by French master Le Nôtre in the 17th century extend from Place de la Concorde to the Palais du Louvre. This French-style garden is an ideal place to stroll and relax and is also home to the Musée de l’Orangerie (dedicated to Impressionist art) and Jeu de Paume. Continue past the Parc du Carrousel and you’ll spot the Louvre and its famous pyramid. On the other side of Rue de Rivoli, the Palais Royal was built by Cardinal Richelieu in 1634 but now combines past and present: its courtyard displays contemporary artworks in the form of Buren’s famous black and white columns and Bury’s fountain. The Place du Palais’ neighbouring Comédie Française welcomed legendary French playwright Molière in days gone by. Just a few streets down, the Place Vendôme and its luxury boutiques make this one of Paris’ chicest streets.
Art and culture are always a big feature of your holidays when you stay in a hotel near the Louvre. The museum is one of the world’s biggest: it exhibits nearly 35,000 artworks over more than 70,000m2 of space. The vast palace was built from the 16Th onwards atop the ruins of a former castle fort, and was the French kings’ main residence before Versailles was created. Its rooms are decorated with collections of paintings and sculptures from the Middle Ages to the 19th century, but also precious Ancient Egyptian, Oriental and Greek art including the unmissable Venus de Milo.
